How Pole Dance Promotes Fitness & Health Wellness
|
|
Pole dance fitness classes have been inspirational in the health and well-being of women and men as they promote activity through entertainment. Pole Dance/Fitness
competitions encourage women to work towards a fitness goal and motivate others
to get started on a regular workout program.
Our Goal: To increase awareness pole fitness and increase its popularity.
Our Mission: To organize events and community activities to increase health and well being through the art of pole fitness & dancing.
For the past 10yrs our country has been going through a lot of changes with the economy, unemployment and healthcare. It didn't seem as if there was anything that could change the direction we all were going. Pole fitness classes have become inspirational to women and men across the US, the motivation for those that are tired of the gym and building of self esteem someone gets from feeling good about themselves. The joy and excitement that people get when they talk about going to pole class or competitions, r eminds me of the Billy Blanks - Tae Bo Era. We are now at the beginning stages of the new era of fitness which is Pole Dancing. It’s challenging, it’s exciting and it adds a romantic flare to any relationship. This is why we decided to do pole fitness/dance competitions. We want to reward those that want to show what they have learned, have a stage for those that want to perform and give those that want to see it in the Olympics a chance to compete
in a strict format to elevate their skills to compete against the best in the world.
We have 3 Categories
- Amateur
- Theatrical
- Professional
This is a true competition were ALL the competitors compete for a shot in the finals in front of the judges. Just like "American Idol", the judges want to see you live and see how you execute your movements and transitions. This is the best way to show your skills!
The Southern Regional Pole Dance/Fitness Competition is destined to become the most entertaining Annual Pole Dance/Fitness Competition of Champions. The event will feature the Professional Pole/Fitness Champions of each southern state. They will be demonstrating skill, strength, and creativity through individually choreographed routines and be crowned The 2012 Southern Regional Champion.

Karri Mae Telford:
SRPDFC Miss South Carolina 2011
Karri Mae Telford is the current reining SRPDFC Miss South Carolina 2011 and also took the titles of Miss Echo and Miss Technical in the competition. The thirty-four year old is a pole dance studio owner and instructor at Pole Pressure of Leesburg, Virginia. Karri Mae began pole dancing in a local studio four years ago when she was dragged into a pole class by a friend. Telford had so much fun she felt compelled to return again and again. And that’s how Karri Mae Telford, pole competitor, was reborn.
Do you think it’s easier to learn tricks on a certain type of pole?
It’s easier for me to learn new moves on a 45mm chrome pole. The chrome pole has a tackier finish that enables a sturdier hold. I have very small hands so the 45mm size gives me a better grip which allows better control especially in aerial maneuvers.
Do you get nervous before a performance?
Absolutely. I get nervous before every performance, whether it’s for a large competition or a casual bar event. I am very nervous. Immediately before each performance I hide somewhere with my headset on. I focus on my performance. I listen to the music and visualize my moves. Then I go out and execute it the best I can.
Jennifer Huff: SRPDFC Miss Texas Champion
Jennifer Huff is the Southern Regional Pole Dance Fitness Competition (SRPDFC) title holder in Texas for 2011. Her stage persona, Tiffany Intimate Spins also holds the title of Miss Texas Pole Star Miss Trixter 2011. The thirty-five year-old resident of San Antonio, Texas, began pole dancing less than three short years ago by taking classes at Soft Sensuous Moves, the studio where she now teaches. She took some time to talk about the competitive side of poling and how she got her mom to give pole dance a try.

How did you get into pole dance?
I was looking for something fun to do after being home with my boys for almost 12 years. From there I signed up for my first beginner pole class and became HOOKED!!!
How much time did you spend pole dancing before you felt comfortable entering competitions?
I had been pole dancing for about a year and a half before I started to really consider entering competitions. I try to challenge myself and entering into competitions was definitely out of my ‘box.’ I was intrigued to know what it was like to be in a competition and see how I could improve on my pole work. Each competition has been a great experience and I’ve meet so many amazing people!
